Extensive clinical tests have been made on the different methods of hyperthermia in combination with radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy. In general, the combination enables a clinically significant improvement of therapeutic efficiency.
Whole-boy hyperthermia:
There are studies available to evidence the feasibility of the method, giving reason to expect a better response, especially with respect to therapy-refractory and resistant illnesses.
Indications for whole-body hyperthermia:
Die Hyperhermie hat ein weites Indikationsspektrum für therapieresistente Krankheiten. Z.B.:
Cancer
Rheumatic illnesses
Chron. backache - ischialgia
Fibromyalgie (s. RCT-Studie 2007)
Arthrosis
Neuralgia
Asthma bronchiale
Neurodermitis
Migraine
Arterial hypertension
Bechterew's disease
and many more
Local hyperthermia:
Research shows coinciding and clearly higher rates of complete remission in the combination of radiotherapy with hyperthermia in comparison to the sole application of radiotherapy. The addition of hyperthermia to radiotherapy or chemotherapy was tested in more than 28 randomised, controlled clinical studies. 21 studies showed significantly better results from the combination with hyperthermia.
Especially in the treatment of patients with primary, high-grade malignant brain tumours at our institute (glioma WHO grade III and IV) we achieved complete and long-lasting partial remission rates with advanced, therapy-resistant patients, which are very promising and clearly superior to former methods.
